July 9th Letter – Missing The Point

From Rupa Manjari devi dasi – 16 August, 2015:

“I will tell you that one thing I find very unethical on behalf of the Prabhupadanugas is that they use the July 9th letter as their “mandate” for permanent ISKCON initiations as ritvik. This I find dishonest because in the language of the letter it says that names of new disciples are to be sent “to Srila Prabhupada”. This means while He is still physically present on earth. To say this is an order for permanent post-Lifetime ritvik diksa is simply not correct.”

The name of a newly initiated disciple should be sent by the representative who has accepted him or her to Srila Prabhupada, to be included in His Divine Grace”s “Initiated Disciples” book.July 9th Letter excerpt

Sent to Srila Prabhpada for WHAT? To be included in the initiated Disciples book – something that anyone can do. Let’s not get lost in the semantics. Let’s be practical here. Your reasoning is over-intelligent.

The acceptance of the disciples has already been established by the representatives; the name is now TO BE included in the initiated disciples book.

Your argument fails to refute nor even ADDRESS the fact that the newly initiated disciple was ALREADY accepted on behalf of Srila Prabhupada without him being involved whatsoever – PRIOR to whether or not the name was to be sent to him. Thus your argument falls apart here; you have TOTALLY MISSED THE NAIL. The nail being the fact that Srila Prabhupada still had no physical involvement whatsoever in the acceptance of the newly initiated disciple; the technicalities of the names being sent to him or her or you or me is IMMATERIAL – IRRELEVANT to the very issue!
